The Amarante Golf Club presents a Par 68, narrow course, with plenty of bunkers protecting the greens.
This course requires accurate driving due to the numerous trees lining the fairways, allowing little room for error.
The local scenery is most attractive with beautiful hills and vine planted terraced slopes on the river Tamega. The course is 600 meters above sea, with seven Par 3 holes and three Par 5 holes.
The weather tends to be extreme: windy and very cold in winter but too hot to play in summer from 12h till 17h.
The Estela Golf Club is located by the River Alto near Póvoa de Varzim.
This course is a Links Course constructed on a three kilometres sandy base along the beach and with little vegetation. Golfers will find that they are exposed to the influencing winds. In an attempt to shelter from what can be at times a strong wind and at the same time to make the course more attractive some 400.000 shrubs and trees have been planted.
Many golfers have commented that the greens are among the fastest to be found in Portugal.
In 1991 this course hosted the Portuguese Open and more recently was chosen for the European International Amateur Championships.

This club was founded in 1931 to encourage the participation of Portuguese in the game of golf.
It is a 9-hole courses with various tee locations to play 18 holes (Par 70).
The second (Par 3) and ninth (Par 4) holes are the most challenging ones.
A spectacular 27-hole course!
This course has been divided into three nines and named after the three local main landmarks. The first nine holes is the Caramulo Course, the second nine the Estrela Course and the third nine the Buçaco course.
Surrounded by trees, gorse and heather, this course is laid out on undulating terrain with good views of the local mountain ranges of Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrela.
This Par 72 course has some narrow fairways with the trees on either side. There are also bunkers to contend with throughout the course, so it can be very difficult, even for good golfers.
One of the oldest golf club in Europe!
Founded in 1890, the Oporto Golf Club is one of the oldest in Europe and is located only 17 kilometers to the south of Porto.
This course has narrow fairways but appears relatively short in length in comparison with today’s longer courses. The two most challenging holes are the fourth and the eleventh. The latter is a long par-5 and some 494 metres long.
An inland golf course protected from the wind!
This course is located inland and with some distance from the sea.
Due to this factor, it is not so exposed to the strong winds of the Atlantic ocean and most players will find this course challenging but providing lots of natural pleasure.
Designed in two nine-hole series, it allows the opportunity for a player to enjoy two different ways of playing each hole.
In the heart of Porto city, the City golf course offers good conditions for learning and practicing golf.
Apart from the driving range, the City Golf 9-hole course was conceived to present all the obstacles you will find in a 18-hole championship golf course: bunkers, lakes and big trees.
The two most interesting holes of City Golf are:
- number 3, the longest with 146 m;
- number 7, the shortest (54 m) but the most difficult with the lake lying between the tee and the green.
A challenging 9-hole course.
This 9-hole course is located at Esposende between Porto and Viana do Castelo.
Most players will find it difficult due to numerous water hazards and well placed bunkers.
The holes are laid out over undulating land decorated with many trees leaving an attractive view across the River Cavada.
A convenient 6-hole course near Porto.
This 6-hole course is located across the river from Porto which it makes it very convenient for golfers to play during the week and have fun practicing their strokes on the short holes. It is also a very inviting course on which to start the process of learning how to play the game of golf.
A new 9-hole course open in March 2009.
The Vale Pisao golf course is made of 9 holes with various levels of difficulty for a challenging game.
The course layout takes into account the natural beauty of the geographical area, merging into the hilly landscape and protecting its vegetation and its rivers.
It offers to the golfers a balanced and varied level of play. A few holes appear short but can be challenging in a beautiful environment.
A Championship 18-hole course in a renown Spa water location.
This course was recently redesigned to eighteen holes and is part of the Vidago Spa Hotel.
Located in an area renown for its Spa water it provides a pleasant diversion for the local inhabitants, some of which are very devoted to the sport.
Set in a forest of pine trees, oaks and cedars, the ambience of the course offers a warm welcome to visitors. The 9th presents the player with some difficulties due to being a par-4 of 470 metres.
